The ELM and the SAT

The cumulative distribution of ELM scores has varied very little over the past several years. The mean and median remain consistently at around 40 for each freshman class.

Similarly, the mean of the math SAT has remained in the high 400's over the same period of time.

Finally, we see that when compared over the population of students who took both exams, the results are linearly consistent with one another. The straight line in the plot is a least squares fit of ELM as predicted by SAT Mat Score. The heat map itself shows the distribution of scores for the two tests as a two-dimensional histogram, looking down from above

The box plot shows the range ELM scores for any given SAT score over the ten year period from 2004 to 2014.  The red lines give the median ELM score for the given SAT, and the boxes range the 25th to the 75th percentile.
